The History of Chevrolet Corvette Posted by Travis Buckley

Hi everyone,

After talking about the history of Chevrolet Corvette, I believe you guys can predict that this time I am going to talk about the 2009 Chevrolet Corvette.  Well, with no surprise, I am going to reveal the new 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 to you guys. (What?….)I understand with the tough economic atmosphere and the crazy gas price curve (it’s already getting better now, so you can consider the luxury monster again!!) this toy maybe not the best choice for you, but you have to know its existence because this is the real DEAL ever!  Consider yourself sitting in the 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 with 638-horsepower V8 under the carbon-fiber hood and 604 pound-feet of torque, feel like a Champion right?

The 2009 ZR1 has the style and performance of cars that can cost two or three times as much and bear legendary badges like Ferrari, Lamborghini and Porsche. Chevrolet plans to build about 1,750 ZR1s annually, making the car a match for those exotics in rarity as well as speed and looks.  And the
starting price for the 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 will be around $102,450, excluding the
gas-guzzler tax.

2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1
also upgraded virtually every mechanic system in order to handle the power.  It includes the carbon-ceramic brakes from Brembo, high-performance tires Michelin developed specifically for the ZR1, and it also has the strong but light carbon-fiber body panels for the roof, hood and front fenders.  The hood also features a clear polycarbonate window to show the cover of the Eaton supercharger that boosts the V8′s power and torque to stratospheric levels.  The adjustable magnetic-ride suspension can absorbs bumps well and clings to the road in its standard setting.  The throttle response is smooth and fast, and the V8’s broad torque curve provides plenty of power at low engine R.P.M.

EPA rating comparison:

2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1
— 14 m.p.g. in the city & 20 m.p.g. on the highway
Ferrari F430

Audi R8
— 12 m.p.g. city & 19 m.p.g. highway
Lamborghini Gallardo
— 12 m.p.g. city/20 m.p.g. highway
530-horsepower Porsche GT2 — 16 m.p.g. in the city and 23 m.p.g.
