Detroit Auto Show 2009 Part I

Posted by Travis Buckley On January - 31 - 2009

What’s up everyone? Happy New Year to all of you and I hope you will have a greater year than 2008. This month of course I need to write about the North American International Auto Show 2009 AKA the Detroit Auto show 2009 held on Jan 13, 2009. I didn’t go to the show this year but I have done my homework and I will share with you what I found about this show. This time I will share with you the concept cars that presented in the show. They are Audi Sportback concept, Cadillac Converj, Chrysler 200C, Fisker Karma S, Kia Soul’ster, Lincoln C Concept, Mercedes-Benz BlueZERO, Subaru Legacy Concept, Volvo S60 Concept, and Volkswagen BlueSport.

1. Audi Sportback concept

With the name Sportback, I believe you should figure out that it has a hatchback instead of a trunk; people also said that this is the Audi version of the Mercedes CLS and carbon copy of the A7. But Audi uses this concept that to speak for their future design trend and takes a bit different tack with its stylish new luxury car. It contains 3.0-liter 6-cylinder turbo diesel and it can produce 225 horsepower, it will have Quattro all-wheel drive and a 7-speed automatic transmission. 2. Cadillac Converj

Obviously the trend of the automotive is going for the “green”. This concept car is after Chevy Volt, another model that is an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV), which it equipped with an electric motor as well as a gasoline engine. The gas-powered engine works as a generator to recharge the vehicle’s batteries. The good thing about these “Green-electric-cars” is the shape is getting trendy and attracts more consumers. GM has done an excellent job on this Cadillac Converj. You can find more pictures at the following site:

Chrysler 200C

This EREV Concept baby can run 40 miles on 100 percent electric power. It also promises 400-mile range with seven seconds blast to sixty. It is an amazing piece that should be on production as soon as possible. Designers also stated that the 200C’s sweptback nose and “wind-cheating shape” make better use of the ENVI drive train. Fisker Karma S

When the Karma goes on sale in November for $87,900, it will be the first mass-produced plug-in electric vehicle sold in the United States. It will accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 5.8 seconds and has a top speed of 125 mph. Two electric motors send 408 horsepower and 959 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels, and the Karma will go about 300 miles on fully charged batteries and a full gas tank.
