If you have read my previous article “How to make your RX330 a JDM style Harrier“, you should have seen the D2S HID light bulbs with 6000K, 8000K, 10000K and 12000K that replacing your stock D2S HID kit.  During the weekend, I have installed the D2S HID bulbs to my RX330, and let me share the installation and some pictures with you guys.

First of all, I am using 8000K D2S HID for my RX330, and it produces a blueish white light output, and Dash Z Racing also carries Lexus RX330 6000K pure white D2S HID bulbs, Lexus RX330 10000K pure blue D2S HID bulbs and Lexus RX330 12000K blueish purple D2S HID bulbs.  These HID bulbs does not come with ballast like other HID conversion kit, because these D2S HID is for cars that have stock HID, like RX330, and it is not a conversion for those cars without HID; therefore, what you need to do is simply replacing your stock 4300K yellowish white HID bulbs with these 6000K, 8000K, 10000K or 12000K D2S HID bulbs and apply your stock HID ballast (which actually simplify the installation a lot!)

Logically, replacing the light bulbs is not difficult because you just need to loose the clip, unplug your stock D2S light bulb, take out the D2S light bulb, replace with the new D2S HID light bulb, plug it and clip it and it’s ready to go.  However, I’ve spent almost 30 minutes to install these D2S light bulbs successfully, the reason is the space is tight in the RX330 engine area, so it is easy to take out the light bulbs but it is hard to get the D2S light bulbs in and clip it back perfectly.  If you are a mechanic, you can consider taking out the bumper and it might even take you less time than get the light bulbs to the correct location.  For your reference, here is a pdf file about how to take out the RX330 bumper: How to remove Lexus RX330 front bumper.  Let me give all of you a tips, when you see the D2S light bulb, there is a color bar on D2S bulbs, the color of the bar is different for different K D2S HID.  When you put the D2S HID into the light bulb hole, the color bar is the top, and the light bulb is the bottom, if you install the HID bulb with this position, you should be able to make the D2S HID bulb stay in the hole.  Now, you need to clip the HID and hold it firmly.  Unfortunately, I am not able to tell you how the clip is because when I installed it, I could not really see it, I use my finger to feel it and feel the area around and then clip it back on.  It might take you some time to put the clip back on to hold the D2S light bulb, but once you are done, you are all set.  Now put back the silver connector for the D2s, and you need to turn it a little bit to lock it.  If you look at the stock silver connect, it has an arrow indicating which side you need to turn to lock it.

After you install the D2S HID, you should drive it in front of a white wall and see if the light is projecting to the correct position.  If vertical adjustment needs to make for the new D2S HID bulbs, please read “How to aim projector headlights“.

Now, look at my RX330 and see if you like it or not.  It looks clean now with the 8000K D2S HID, white LED city light for the parking light, and white 96-LED 9006 light bulbs for the fog lights ( I’m going to install HID for the fog lights soon ).  I just start working on my new RX330, so if you own a RX330 and want to follow up my work on my RX330, bookmark our blog and come back often.  I’m planning to get black rims and a new body kit for my RX330, but need to save up some money first, see you guys soon!
